Meet Pam. She’s almost 70, and she’s getting results.

When Pam came to see me in March 2024, her A1C was 6.9 and she had just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

As of last week? 5.9. And we’re not stopping there. Our goal is 5.4 in the next three months.

Since we started working together in March 2024, Pam has also:

✔️ Lost 23 pounds
✔️ Lost 20 pounds of fat
✔️ Dropped 8% body fat
✔️ Gained over 1.5 pounds of skeletal muscle

Yes, she built muscle at almost 70. That matters, because muscle is one of your best tools for blood sugar control as you age.

No crash diets. No cutting out everything she loves. Just steady, sustainable changes focused on blood sugar balance, protein, and a lifestyle she can keep.

If Pam can do it at 70, imagine what you can do. Book your consult through the link in bio. 💛

📌 Save this for the next time someone tells you it’s “too late.”

🔁 Repost it for the woman in your life who needs to hear it can be done.

Meal prep doesn’t have to mean a “mom meal” and a “kid meal.” 🙌

One of my clients told me this week that meal prep has become second nature.

Breakfast and lunch run on autopilot. Dinner rotates through family favorites the kids actually ask for. Pizza night? The girls build their own on tortilla crusts.

The best part: her daughter is starting to notice how different foods make her feel. They talk about “good foods” and “fun foods,” and how there’s room for both. 💛

That’s the 80/20 mindset. Nourishing food most of the time, fun food some of the time, and no guilt either way.

Want meal prep to feel this easy for your family? Book a visit. The link is in my bio. 📍 Sugar Land, TX

A Sunday soirée with a purpose 🥂✨
I loved spending the evening at Sunset Soirée, hosted by Verve to benefit Lena’s Foundation. The foundation provides support, advocacy, and career opportunities for survivors of domestic abuse and human trafficking.

Verve events are about more than gathering: they celebrate Houston businesses and the people behind them, and give back to those who need it most.

Held at the lovely La Petit Marché, the night featured Domus caviar and charcuterie, and the caviar made the evening extra special for me 🖤

And yes, the dietitian in me has to share: caviar is more than a luxury bite! Just one ounce gives you:
✨ 7 g protein
✨ 1–2 g omega-3s for heart and brain health
✨ Over 200% of your daily B12
✨ Selenium, choline, and vitamin D

It’s salt-cured, so enjoy it as a nutrient-dense treat rather than a meal. Good nutrition can absolutely include the special moments 💕

Thank you, Verve, for a beautiful night and an even more beautiful cause.

Halloween doesn’t have to come with a side of food

Halloween doesn’t have to come with a side of food guilt, for you or your kids.

Here are 5 ways to keep it fun and calm:

1️⃣ Eat a real meal first. Trick-or-treating on an empty stomach makes candy feel urgent. Dinner first, then fun.

2️⃣ Let the haul be enjoyed. Strict rules tend to make candy more exciting, not less. Calm and neutral wins.

3️⃣ Pair it up. Candy alongside protein or fiber, like nuts, cheese or fruit, keeps energy steadier.

4️⃣ Pick your favorites. Savor the ones you love and pass on the “mediocre “ ones. No need to finish the bowl.

5️⃣ Drop the “good” vs “bad” talk. Treats are part of food, not a moral test. Kids are listening.
All foods fit. Even the fun-size ones. 🍬

📌 Save this for Halloween night and share it with a parent who needs the reminder.

Follow @pattymartinrd for more realistic, guilt-free nutrition.

Meet Maya 💜
Maya is a veterinarian, and a vegetarian. Her days are long, stressful, and unpredictable.

When she came to me a month ago, she was feeling the first symptoms of menopause, her iron was low, and most of her meals came from restaurants and drive-thrus.

Her goals were simple:
✔️ Lose fat and feel comfortable in her clothes again
✔️ Plan meals around a crazy schedule
✔️ Get the nutrients a vegetarian body needs

My biggest ask was for her to start cooking at home. She was hesitant, but she said yes.

One month later, Maya is down 5 lbs and 3% body fat. She’s exercising, hydrating, and filling her plate with lentils, edamame, eggs, steel-cut oats, roasted veggies, berries, and seeds.

And she looks energetic and radiant! ✨

Being vegetarian doesn’t automatically mean eating healthy. With the right plan, though, it can absolutely fuel your hormones, your energy, and your results.

So proud of you, Maya! 👏

I’m a registered dietitian, and at the time, I did

I’m a registered dietitian, and at the time, I didn’t see this one coming. 🌴☕

I started a habit of having a date or two in the morning with my coffee. Natural, whole food, totally “clean.” What could be healthier?

After, I did my annual physical along with routine blood work, my A1c shot up to 5.7, right at the edge of the prediabetes range. Luckily, I quickly figured out the culprit: me having a date every morning with my coffee. I cut out the morning dates, and 3 months later, my A1c went backdown to 5.4.

Here’s what I want you to know: your body doesn’t care if sugar comes from a date, honey, or a cookie. Sugar is sugar. And eating it alone on an empty stomach, every single day, adds up.

I went against my own nutritional advice. Now, I know from firsthand experience, that eating any form of sugar repeatedly on an empty stomach without protein, fiber or fat will increase your blood sugar levels.

You don’t have to give up the foods you love. Pair them with protein, have them after a meal, and watch your portions. Small changes, big results. 💪

Not sure what’s quietly spiking your blood sugar? DM me “SUGAR” and let’s find out together 📩
