ENJOY THE BIG GAME DAY THE LIGHT WAY WITH THESE 5 RECIPES AND 5 OF THE LOWEST CARB BEERS ?

The Super Bowl is the big game day we all look forward to celebrating with family and good friends and of course… good food.  It’s the combination of the game, the half-time entertainment, the commercials and food that makes it an exciting event we all yearn for.  One thing for certain about the Super Bowl or any other tailgating event in Texas is that, we make a big deal about the food, as they say,” everything big in Texas.”  The usual high caloric heavy foods, such as queso with chips and more chips, kolaches, barbecue sausage and nachos are a given at any sporting event in Texas.  These heavy and hardy, traditional Texan foods are delicious and hard to pass up, but they can wreak havoc on your clean eating plan.  Therefore, the name of the game is to keep your intentions in mind and eat lighter on the big game day with Patty’s approved lightened-up delicious recipes.  By the way, whether your team wins or loses, you can still win if you don’t blow your diet watching the game.  Here are 5 recipes and 5 light beers guaranteed not to blow your diet while watching the game on Sunday.  I love football; I love food!  Geaux team, geaux!

Bear’s Caviar

This party appetizer is made with plenty of fresh ingredients, fresh cilantro, red peppers, green peppers, red onions, black beans, black eye peas, jalapeño peppers and fresh corn. This fresh and simple dip can be thrown together in the spur of the moment, which makes it a quick side dish for the Super Bowl! https://pattyrd.com/bears-caviar/

Roasted Chickpeas

These roasted chickpeas are my favorite amongst all party foods, which actually come with some incredible health benefits due to their high fiber content. https://pattyrd.com/roasted-chickpeas-2/

Special Hummus Recipe

Is there anything pumpkin is not good in?  Pumpkin is low in calories and is full of iron, zinc, Vitamin C, Vitamin A and beta carotene.  This humus recipe is an easy and quick recipe you can make in minutes and don’t forget to garish with pumpkin seeds. https://pattyrd.com/pumpkin-hummus-2/

Simple Guacamole

Simply Peel and pit the avocado, mash the flesh in a small bowl with lime juice and sea salt.  Use four avocados and four limes to make ~8 servings.  Add fresh garlic, diced red onions, jalapeno peppers and cilantro.

Mediterranean Chicken Burgers

Instead of using ground beef or ground turkey, this recipe is made with ground chicken, goat cheese, red peppers, black olives, red onions and spinach eaten over leafy green lettuces with feta cheese, red onions and black olives with a Balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing.   https://pattyrd.com/mediterranean-chicken-burgers/

Of course, what’s a sporting event without beer. In the spirit of the Super Bowl, let me shed some light on the lighter versions of beer to choose from. (For the record, I typically avoid beer and stress moderation in its consumption.) But my clients do want to know, “what beer is best to drink when trying to conserve calories?” Considering the fact that we are all trying to minimize our waistlines, why not opt for a lighter beer with fewer calories if you wish to get into the spirit of drinking beer on Super Bowl? In search of the lightest of light, here are the five top light brands that I researched from the lowest in calories and carbs to the highest in calories and carbs.

Budweiser Select 55, 55 calories, 1.8g carbs

Michelob Ultra, 64 calories, 2.6g carbs

Corona Premier, 90 calories, 2.6g carbs

Bush Light, 95 calories, 3.2g carbs

Beck’s Premier Light, 63 calories, 3.6g carbs

Enjoy the game, love what you eat, eat what you love and love what you become.  I am passionate about helping people to look and to feel their best, if you are struggling with weight gain, feeling bloated all the time, having digestive issues, hormonal changes and you are just not feeling your best, don’t hesitate to contact Patty for help @pattyrd.com
