I choose body composition over goal weight every t I choose body composition over goal weight every time. 💪 Here’s what I actually DO to protect my natural shape and metabolic health:

1️⃣ Consistency over perfection
2️⃣ Strength training 3-4x/week
3️⃣ ~30g protein + 7-10g fiber every meal
4️⃣ 7-10k steps daily
5️⃣ Habits I actually stick to, not quick fixes

None of this is glamorous. But, I can tell you, it ALL works. Which one are you missing? 👇
Why the Scale Lied to You This Week There’s no ne Why the Scale Lied to You This Week

There’s no need to panic over the weight on the scale. In perimenopause and menopause, your body is holding onto water, adjusting hormones, and (hopefully) building muscle. These are all things that move the number without meaning you’ve gained fat. I’d rather you track how your jeans fit than obsess over a number that lies to you weekly. Save this for the next time the scale tries to ruin your morning. 🤍

The good news? You can support your own GLP-1 natu The good news? You can support your own GLP-1 naturally.

By prioritizing, protein, fiber, and healthy fats.

Choose whole foods over processed foods.

Keep blood sugar steady by eating 3 balanced meals per day containing the 3 Food group: protein, fiber-rich carb and a healthy fat source. Having a healthy snack ( protein source with fiber rich carb)is optional.

That’s how you work with your body instead of fighting it.

No shame, no restriction, my program will help you understand how your body actually works. 🤍

Save this for later and follow @PattyMartinRD for more no-nonsense nutrition tips.

And if you’re already on a GLP-1, thats fine. Understanding this biology just helps you get more out of it, whether you are on medication or not.

Happy World Chocolate Day! 🍫 Here’s How to Eat Cho Happy World Chocolate Day! 🍫
Here’s How to Eat Chocolate Healthily
As a dietitian, I love recommending dark chocolate when it’s high quality, it can absolutely be part of a healthy lifestyle.

Always check the ingredient list first: cocoa solids or cocoa liquor should be at the top. Steer clear of bars loaded with added sugars or hydrogenated vegetable oils.

And for a well-balanced snack, pair a square or two of quality dark chocolate with some nuts and berries.

What’s your favorite way to enjoy dark chocolate? Drop it below! 🍫

Had the best time celebrating the 4th of July with Had the best time celebrating the 4th of July with my daughter Gabby here in Austin!

I love the food scene here, especially the Mexican food we tried a new spot called De Nada’s Cantina and it did not disappoint. Authentic, fresh, and packed with nutrient-dense ingredients. My kind of meal.

The absolute highlight of the trip was seeing Willie Nelson live. It was such an incredible show.

Then on Sunday, Gabby hosted the most beautiful brunch for her friends and I happily played her sous chef. Watching her create a whole spread from fresh, whole ingredients made me so proud. This is what it’s all about nourishing food, good company, and passing it down. 🥬🍅🥑👏

I love Austin ❤️
Now it’s time to head home and get back to my routine (the one I genuinely love). ❤️

It’s simply this: eat foods closer to how they came out of the ground (or off the farm), out the sky or out the sea most of the time.

If you can’t open a jar by yourself anymore… your If you can’t open a jar by yourself anymore… your body is trying to tell you something.

Grip strength is one of the most powerful predictors of your long-term health as a woman and most of us are never told that.

Research links low grip strength to higher risk of cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, and even early mortality.

And here’s what really matters for my ladies in perimenopause and beyond, as estrogen drops, we naturally lose muscle mass. Grip strength is one of the first places we feel it.

It’s not about being able to lift heavy. It’s about staying independent, strong, and functional for decades to come.

So here’s your sign to start lifting, carrying, and building that muscle because strong hands mean a strong body.

If you’re ready to feel stronger, more confident, and better in your body as you age, you’re in the right place. Follow me @PattyMartinRd for real, research-backed nutrition guidance that actually fits your life.
